ORIGIN

The grapes come from our plot Finca El Serrano, in the Protected Designation of Origin of Alicante, on the east coast of Spain. It enjoys a warm climate and the beneficial influence of the Mediterranean all year round. The climate is continental in the mountainous areas inland.

WINEMAKING

The vine-growing and winemaking are carried out with as little intervention as possible, trying to reflect the full potential of the terroir. The grapes were picked on 4 October 2020. They were fermented at 25ºC with their own yeasts from the skins, with gentle pumping over. Pressing was carried out after 30 days of maceration. Malolactic fermentation was performed in stainless steel tanks and the wine was then racked to French oak foudres to be aged for six months before bottling.

SOIL

The soils are limestone, with grain size and texture especially suitable for vine-growing under extreme conditions. These are very poor soils that encourage the grapes to ripen in a way that offers the best aromas and flavours.

Deep red with shades of purple. Highly intense aromas, most notably of extremely ripe fruit on a background of very elegant toasted oak. Meaty and complex, with an unctuous palate, balanced tannins and a roasted finish.
