The most demanding competition in Germany rewards the excellent quality and good work that goes into Murviedro wines

Requena, 25 August 2023.- Murviedro has triumphed once again in a big way with SEVEN Gold Medals in the strict, competitive and uncompromising Berliner Wein Trophy. To win awards at this event, wines must pass an oenological analysis supervised by a notary public, and only 30% of the products tasted finally obtain a medal.

Most of Murviedro’s award-winning wines are made with grape varieties native to the Valencian Community, such as those made with Monastrell awarded the Gold Medal, Finca El Serrano 2021 and Sericis Cepas Viejas Monastrell 2019 or Sericis Cepas Viejas Bobal 2020.

The Gold Medal has also been awarded to Murviedro Pasión Garnacha Rosé 2022 and Murviedro Pasión Monastrell & Garnacha 2021.

But Murviedro can also boast international grape varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, which is the star of the red CV 05 2021, belonging to the select range of single-vineyard wines (Vinos de Parcela), as well as Murviedro Colección Reserva 2019, made with a blend of Tempranillo, Monastrell and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Awards and mentions obtained by Murviedro in the first half of 2023

These seven Gold Medals won at the Berliner Wein Trophy provide an endorsement for the way Murviedro works. It bases the quality of its wines on the environmentally sustainable viticulture it has been practising in its vineyards ever since it was founded in the Valencian region of Spain in 1927.

In the first half of this year, other competitions, specialised wine guides and well-known critics have endorsed the quality of its wines, such as the Mundus Vini competition, also held in Germany, where Arts de Luna Organic Brut Rosé was proclaimed Best in Show Brut Rosé Cava at the Spring Tasting and the Sericis Cepas Viejas Bobal and Sericis Cepas Viejas Monastrell each won Gold Medals.

In May, the Spanish Wine Tasters Union recognised Vallejo Avenas as one of the best Chardonnays in Spain at its Bacchus International Competition when it obtained the top award, a Grand Gold Medal, in a blind tasting. There, Murviedro also achieved three Gold Medals for its La Casa de la Seda, Murviedro Pasión Garnacha Rosé and Galeam Dry Muscat Organic Wine.

That same month, Murviedro triumphed again in Bordeaux with four Gold Medals in the Challenge International Du Vin for its single-vineyard wines Vallejo Avenas and Finca El Serrano Wines, as well as Murviedro Colección Reserva and Murviedro Colección Crianza. Notably, this last wine, Murviedro Colección Crianza 2019, has also been awarded the Grand Gold Medal at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles.

And, in June, the influential American critic James Suckling once again placed Murviedro wines among the best in Spain, rating La Casa de la Seda, Finca El Serrano Monastrell and Murviedro Colección Gran Reserva as Outstanding.
