Requena, 24 February 2020.- Murviedro has just received a new accolade for the renewal of its wines undertaken a couple of years ago when the winery celebrated its 90th anniversary. This time it has been the Gilbert & Gaillard guide, an international leader for professionals worldwide, which has awarded it 9 GOLD MEDALS and 2 SILVER MEDALS at the January wine tasting of the International Competition organised by this Guide and specialist magazine published in France.
Sericis Cepas Viejas Monastrell 2016 leads the list of winners in the GOLD category with 92 points. A single-variety Monastrell wine from the best vineyards in Villena, in the mountains of Alicante, with a “spiced taste and powerful palate”, recommended to accompany wild boar stew.
In the same range of wines, Sericis Cepas Viejas Bobal 2016 stands out with 90 points, GOLD. The tasting notes for this wine lay emphasis on its “gourmet punch, power and structure”.
Murviedro Cepas Viejas Bobal 2016 won GOLD too with 90 points. They say it is “elegant on the palate, with perfectly integrated tannins”.
Vallejo Avenas 2018 is GOLD with 90 points, Murviedro’s most exclusive single-lot Chardonnay, to which the Gilbert & Gaillard judges have awarded the prize for its “expressive and delicate nose, and its great complexity”.
The Cava Arts de Luna range has triumphed with 4 GOLDS, for the Brut and Brut Nature, as well as for the Organic Brut and Brut Rosé.
The SILVER MEDAL won by the alcohol-free sparkling wine Luna de Murviedro Ice Cold White 0.0 is particularly satisfactory, belonging to a segment that is growing day on day thanks to the healthy eating concept and for safety. Elaborated from Mediterranean varieties of white grape, it has seduced the jury with its “delicious aromatic palate. An original profile to discover.”
Finally, Estrella de Murviedro Frizzante Moscato and Estrella de Murviedro Frizzante Rosé won the well-deserved ratings of GOLD and SILVER respectively. These two wines are perfect as an aperitif, and even to accompany all kinds of fish, seafood and paellas, with the sparkling touch which makes them so fresh and light-hearted.
