Murviedro Colección Crianza 2018 repeats its GOLD MEDAL at the Mundus Vini in Germany, while Murviedro Arts de Luna Organic Brut Rosé Cava also triumphs with a GOLD MEDAL and is proclaimed “Best of Show” for rosé cavas

Requena, 8 March 2022.- Murviedro has enjoyed two great successes at the spring tasting of the Mundus Vini wine competition, one of the most important international competitions of its kind, with more than 12,000 entries each year.

The Murviedro Colección Crianza 2018 red wine won a GOLD Medal for the second time, following a previous Summer Tasting triumph. And Murviedro Arts de Luna Organic Brut Rosé Cava not only also took GOLD, it was also named “Best of Show” for rosé cavas, a distinction only awarded to the top wine in each category.

Murviedro Colección Crianza 2018 repeats its GOLD Medal

The double award-winning Murviedro Colección Crianza is made principally with Tempranillo grapes (50%), providing its characteristic hints of refreshing red and black berries. The Monastrell (30%) and Syrah (20%) varieties provide ripe black fruit sensations and delicate floral nuances recalling violets. This is a rounded, well-structured DO Valencia wine that has been aged for at least six months in barrels of American oak from the forests of Missouri.

This Colección Crianza 2018 is ruby red in colour, with hints of brick red. The aroma is intense, full, and elegant, reminiscent of seasonal red and black fruits on a balsamic and floral background with hints of undergrowth and some spicy and toasted notes from barrel aging. Soft and gentle on the palate, the wine is silky and well rounded, with a velvety mouthfeel and ripe, well-polished tannins.

Murviedro Arts de Luna Organic Brut Rosé Cava: the best in its class

Murviedro Arts de Luna Organic Brut Rosé Cava also triumphed with a GOLD Medal. Most importantly, though, it was proclaimed “Best of Show” for rosé cavas, putting it ahead of the most select sparkling wines in this already select category in a blind tasting.

Murviedro Arts de Luna Organic Brut Rosé is made from Garnacha grapes organically grown in Requena and covered by the DO Cava. Its excellent quality can be put down to the altitude and continental climate of this inland area of the province of Valencia, with Mediterranean influences and a great temperature difference between day and night, along with the chalky clay soils and the expertise of our master winemakers.

This cava is aged in the bottle for a minimum of 11 months in riddling racks and is suitable for vegetarians and vegans. It has a nice, intense onion-skin colour, with an aroma reminiscent of fresh red fruits. On the palate it is savoury, creamy and refreshing, with crisp red fruit, good acidity and a long, fruity finish. It is a magnificent rosé cava, ideal served chilled both as an aperitif and with desserts.
