Requena, 13 May 2022 \u2013 Ever since Bodegas Murviedro<\/strong> set off on its journey towards quality, it has continued to reap rewards. Its clear commitment to organic wines has been recognised and it has now been rewarded with the Gran Oro<\/strong> for its Arts de Luna Organic Brut Ros\u00e9 Cava at the Ecovino awards. This is the biggest international organic wine competition in Spain, held in La Rioja.<\/p>\n Also awarded Gold Medals<\/strong> at this event were Murviedro Arts de Luna Organic Brut Cava, as well as Murviedro Pasi\u00f3n Malvas\u00eda and Murviedro Pasi\u00f3n Tinto: two exclusive brands produced only for export.<\/p>\n These important awards mean Murviedro has won more prizes than any other winery from the Valencian region at Ecovino, where, in blind tastings, the jury recognises the best organic wines made with organically grown grapes in each category.<\/p>\n Today’s undisputed star and winner of the Gran Oro at Ecovino, is Arts de Luna Brut Ros\u00e9 Organic<\/strong>, a ros\u00e9 cava produced within the DO Cava (Requena) and made with 100% organically grown Garnacha grapes. It has an onion skin colour, with dense foam and fine, well-integrated bubbles. The intensity of the aroma is good, with elegant notes of red fruit reminiscent of strawberries and cherries. It is light, crisp and tasty on the palate, with good acidity and a long finish, where the red berry sensations return.<\/p>\n Ros\u00e9 cavas like this one are very fashionable and versatile in fine dining. As they are made with black grapes, they give a more vinous sensation on the palate.<\/p>\n They also go well with appetisers, cold meats and starters, pasta dishes, blue fish and even lamb. The carbon dioxide gas and excellent acidity cleanse the palate with every mouthful.<\/p>\n Arts de Luna Brut Organic<\/strong> has also received a top prize from the Ecovino jury, with the award of a Gold Medal. Another cava made with fine dining in mind, it is ideal to accompany a whole meal from start to finish. It is made largely with Macabeo grapes, plus some Chardonnay. It is straw yellow in colour, with golden hints, good foam formation, and dense, well-integrated, fine bubbles. There is a clean aroma of citrus and white fruits (apple, pear), dried fruits (hazelnuts, walnuts) and pastry aromas (sponge cake). Very pleasant in the mouth, it is lively, fresh and easy to drink, with a subtle citrus and floral (orange blossom) finish and a creamy sensation making it long and persistent.<\/p>\n The white and red of the select Murviedro Pasi\u00f3n<\/strong> range have also been picked out for Gold Medals. These wines have a Mediterranean soul that reflect the enthusiasm and emotion of the entire team of this Valencian winery involved in their production.<\/p>\n Murviedro Pasi\u00f3n Malvas\u00eda 2020<\/strong> is made from one of the noblest and oldest varieties around the Mediterranean. Very bright, it is yellow tinged with green in colour. Its fragrant, intense and highly complex aroma features a wide range of ripe fruits, recalling lychee, peach and red apples, with a floral evocation of orange blossom. The palate is savoury, all-enveloping and very persistent, with good acidity.<\/p>\n The red wine is Murviedro Pasi\u00f3n 2019<\/strong>, a coupage of Monastrell (90%) and Garnacha (10%). The wine is aged for four months in new American oak barrels, which lock in the purest aromas of the grapes the wine is made from. It is an opaque red in colour, with an intense, complex, elegant aroma, and The Ecovino awards ceremony will be held in the Aula Magna of the Quintiliano Building at the University of La Rioja on 26 May. The winning wines at this 2022 event will later participate in the traditional popular tasting scheduled for 24 June.
