Requena (Valencia), 28 March 2022 \u2013 When it comes to awards and distinctions, Murviedro wines have had an excellent March. Just a couple of weeks ago the Murviedro Colecci\u00f3n Crianza and Arts de Luna Organic Brut Ros\u00e9<\/strong> took Gold Medals<\/strong> at the prestigious Mundus Vini show in Germany. The cava was also proclaimed \u201cBest Ros\u00e9 Cava of Show<\/em>\u201d, a distinction only given to the very best wine in each category.<\/p>\n

Eight outstanding ratings from Gilbert & Gaillard<\/strong><\/p>\n

Now the French guide Gilbert & Gaillard has declared the excellence of Murviedro wines by rating eight of them as outstanding.<\/p>\n

The most highly appreciated were the Murviedro single-vineyard wines, which are the result of painstaking research work undertaken over the last few years to identify the plots that have components differentiating them from the surrounding terroirs. Over successive vintages they have produced wines that not only show exceptional quality, but also have certain characteristics that make them different from the standard varietal styles.<\/p>\n

Vallejo Avenas 2020<\/strong> (DO Utiel-Requena), a Chardonnay from grapes grown at an altitude of 700 metres in chalky soil, gets 93 points<\/strong>. The guide describes it as having a \u201cdelicate nose of white fruits with floral hints and a touch of fresh butter. A creamy, rounded palate reveals the influence of quality oak, with soft barrel notes supporting the wine.\u201d<\/p>\n

CV05 2020<\/strong> (DO Valencia), a Cabernet Sauvignon, scores 93 points<\/strong> thanks to its \u201clovely nose of red and black fruit with hints of graphite and pepper\u201d. According to the guide, \u201cA rich, velvety, powerful attack leads to a mid-palate showing a background of spicy freshness. Wonderful liquorice notes on the finish\u201d.<\/p>\n

Ca\u00f1ada la Torre 2020<\/strong> (DO Valencia), a Malvasia made from vines grown at an altitude of 1,090 metres, receives 92 Points<\/strong>. The guide emphasises its \u201cappealing nose of white fruits (pear, peach) and tropical fruits (pineapple, mango). A seductive attack on the palate reflects the nose, with very faint notes of freshly mown grass. Great balance\u201d. This is undoubtedly a very special white wine that particularly attracted the attention of tasters who recommend it to
\naccompany \u201cmild Vietnamese cuisine\u201d.<\/p>\n

The legendary La Casa de La Seda 2020<\/strong> (DO Utiel-Requena), made with Bobal grapes from century-old vines at Finca El Ardal, scored 91 points<\/strong>. The guide highlights its \u201cfresh nose of vanilla and menthol led by spices and jammy fruit. Chewy mouthfeel with the presence of tannins. The fruit is precise and ripe in a fresh, tight style.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Galeam Monastrell Organic 2020<\/strong> (DO Alicante) also obtained 91 points<\/strong>. It delighted the tasters with its \u201cnose of black fruits, with empyreumatic notes, caramel and hints of pepper and graphite. On the palate it is powerful, indulgent and full of freshness,\u201d continues the guide. \u201cA spicy mineral finish showing substantial length\u201d. The tasters round off their comment with an enthusiastic \u201cBravo!\u201d.<\/p>\n

Sericis Cepas Viejas Monastrell 2017<\/strong> (DO Alicante) received the same comment. Collecting 91 points<\/strong>, the guide likes its \u201cExpressive nose of dark candied fruits with pepper and hints of forest floor.\u201d It goes on: \u201cMagnificent entry, silky, powerful, and expressive, with marked notes of liquorice. Substantial spicy minerality in the finish.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sericis Cepas Viejas Bobal 2018<\/strong> (DO Utiel-Requena) was given 90 Points<\/strong>. This red wine was described as having an \u201cattractive nose of black fruits with hints of vanilla and cocoa. A magnificent attack on the palate, finely enveloped by the wood. Rounded and powerful. The finish shows fresh, spicy notes\u201d.<\/p>\n

Galeam Dry Muscat 2021 <\/strong>(DO Alicante), a very fine, dry Muscat, is given 90 points<\/strong> for its \u201cnose of fresh grapes and pear with touches of citrus and menthol\u201d. And \u201cfresh, mineral palate that echoes the nose, with the grapes taking centre stage\u201d. It is recommended as \u201cideal with white asparagus in mousseline sauce\u201d.<\/p>\n

Three Gold Medals at the Berliner Wein Trophy<\/strong><\/p>\n

Murviedro wines have once again triumphed in the world’s largest and most prestigious wine competition, the Berliner Wein Trophy, a contest sponsored by the International Organisation of Vine and Wine and the International Union of Oenologists. Almost 2,000 participants from 41 countries took part in the most recent competition, and it was very difficult to stand out among the 14,000 wines entered.<\/p>\n

Casa de la Seda 2020<\/strong> (DO Utiel-Requena), Murviedro’s flagship wine, won another Gold Medal for its already long list of awards.<\/p>\n

The Cepas Viejas old vine series also won a Gold Medal for Sericis CV Bobal 2018<\/strong> (DO Utiel-Requena).<\/p>\n
