Las Cuevas are well established and the organic is gaining weight in the international competitions. In abril the Challenge International Du Vin awarded Cueva del Pecado 2012 a Gold Medal and Cueva de la Culpa 2013 a Silver Medal.
Valencia, 16 May 2017,- The emblematic red Cueva del Pecado 2012, made from a blend of a careful selection of the grape varieties Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon, in the DOP Valencia, has been awarded a Grand Gold Medal at the 24th edition of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, making Murviedro one of only three wineries from Valencia to receive a Grand Gold Medal. However, this was not the only award with which Murviedro returned given that the winery won another 6 medals, three golds and three silvers.
The Gold Medals were given to the cava Luna de Murviedro Brut Organic, and Arts de Luna and Vega Libre Reserva 2013. Two cavas that have established themselves in the market and a red destined for exports.
Among the Silver Medals, one is particularly notable for being the first award for the new Murviedro Cepas Viejas Merseguera, recently launched on the market. There was support for the reds Murviedro Colección Crianza 2014, a popular blend of Tempranillo, Monastrell and Syrah, and Murviedro Colección Reserva Bobal 2013, a single varietal that you can always rely on for its quality.
It should be remembered that this is one of the most important wine competitions. On this occasion more than 9000 wines were entered from more than fifty countries, that were assessed by 320 tasters, international judges and other experts. Sources inside the organisation noted the high participation of Spanish wines, particularly organic and biodynamic wines.
Murviedro, well known internationally in the wine industry, this year celebrates its 90th anniversary. The quality of the wines from Murviedro has resulted in the winery being ranked among the top 15 Spanish wineries in the world rankings of the World Association, Wines & Spirits, Writers and Journalists (WAWWJ), occupying 11th place as a result of the medals and awards won by their wines in the main international wine competitions. 90% of their wines are exported, their key markets being the UK, Switzerland, Germany, Benelux, Scandinavia and Japan. The winery also continues to pursue its objective to increase its presence in the national market.
